I think the wonderful thing about wordpress is that older books and lesser read books get blogged about and more people hear about them. It’s completely different to what seems to go on in the trade publishing industry at the moment whereby books which are likely to be adapted for film, or which are targeted at a profitable demographic seem to get all the marketing and other books are to a certain extent left to languish.
I’m going to say that I think that more people should read The Passion by Jeanette Winterson and The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson. I like the way they have managed to create a narrative which fuses the modern novel and elements of traditional folktales to create something fresh and exciting. It helps that the writing in both is magical. They are both incredibly compelling reads. I highly recommend that you read them… both.
